Elastic Waist Summer Dress

Hey Lovelies!!

Time to unveil a clients request! A friend of mine sent me a picture when she was shopping of a dress that she wanted but she didn't love the print of the price tag for that matter. We talked it over and we came up with a cute tank dress with an elastic waist. I ordered the fabric that she chose and after the store took 100 years (exaggeration) to send it to me, I got it knocked out in about a day...maybe a day in a half depending on how much sewing my 9 month old let me do. So lets get into it why don't we...

Here is the fabric she picked:

 Isn't it cute?!

It's a crinkled faille in a beautiful water color print. It's super soft and it flows beautifully. I loved using this fabric because it worked well with me and I didn't have to keep pinning and moving things.

Might have to order some more and make a cute paid of wide leg pants for myself :)

After she and I determined the style of dress she ultimately wanted, I drew a sketch to make sure that we were both going to be happy with the results.. Here is that sketch:

Looking at it now I could have added some more black to emphasize the design of the dress... But whats done is done..

This is the finished dress before I put my label in the inside. As you can see the waist gathers with a bit of 1/4" elastic. There is also a tie belt that is not pictured here but it is below.

Here is the pattern review:

Pattern Description: This is a Sew Simple Simplicity pattern. I think its OOP now but I picked it up at Walmart for $.97!

Pattern Sizing: 10-18

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yup.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Way too easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that it was easy to understand and very quick to make.

Fabric Used: Crinkled faille in a water color pattern.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Sure would! It's a great quick dress for everyone.

Conclusion: This a great dress for beginners and if you can find it then I suggest making one and then a few more!

New Earring Style & Website Update

Hey Lovelies!

I forgot to mention that I also made some new earrings. I have a new style as well.

First let's get to the new fabric covered earrings. I have 3 new styles that I have made.

The leopard ones are show in the large size, the line design ones are shown in the small, and the polka dot pattern in on the extra small earrings. They can all be made bigger or smaller.

I found these fabrics and some others but I have yet to make earrings with the others so there are more coming so stay tuned for that.

Now to the unveiling of the newest style I have started.....

*DRUMROLL*

Giltter!!!

These are my newest creations! They are glitter earrings. They are the same size as the small ones (3/4") and there are more colors to come! (clockwise: silver, gold, purple, lime green, and teal)
Came up with the idea the other day and I have gotten a good response from them so far. These are all for sale AND there are more colors coming soon!!! I know I have to make black, red, and pink ones for sure! Look out for them!

On a side note I am hoping to start my website next week. I have found a domain and I am just coordinating with my photographer on when we will be able to do the photos for all of the items. Look out for that update as well!

Well thanks for stopping by and happy sewing/crafting/scrapbooking or whatever it is that you are passionate about!

Studded Denim Clutch + A Pattern Review on Simplicity 2166

Hello Dolls!

I'm back from another break with great news! I just landed a great job...With....

Very, VERY excited about this! I have wanted to work there for years seeing as though I love fabric and crafts of all types. I know one thing for sure...My stash is going to grow like crazy!

Anyways on to the post! I made a denim clutch the other day while bored with nothing to do for a few hours. I was just going to make it plain but I ended up putting some studs down the front to change the look up a bit. I will put a photo down below. I also was trying to decide on a fabric for the inside and while rummaging through my stash I found the CUTEST navy and orange printed charmeuse. I figured why not!

This is the photo collage that I put together of the clutch.

 So here goes the review:

Pattern Description: Clutch Bags

Pattern Sizing: One size

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, but I have made this before so I didn't follow them.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love how quick and easy it is.

Fabric Used: Denim and a printed Charmeuse for the lining

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added studs down the front of the flap to jazz it up a bit.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I LOVE this pattern! It's perfect for beginners and veteran seamstresses

Conclusion: This is a great pattern to have in your collection. I think everyone should have a pattern that is basic for a quick bag when you need one to match an outfit or just because you want to make one.

Thanks for reading and have a happy Saturday!

Houndstooth & Zebra Makeup Bags

Hello my Lovelies!

I have (during this busy week) found time to finish two of the makeup bags that I planned to make. One is showing the pink houndstooth fabric that I showed in the previous post. The other one is of a cute zebra fabric that I picked up and that I use for my button earrings.

So lets get to it!

Pink houndstooth with a electric lime green lining, and a hot pink zipper.

Zebra print with a red lining and a red zipper.
This is just a start. There are many more to come... Different sizes and shapes. As always if you are interested in any of them just leave me a comment with what color/style you want as well as the size and shape.

Thanks for reading!!!

Makeup Bags are Coming! (pics)

Hello my Lovelies!

I have been doing the earring thing like crazy lately! I have a lot of new styles and I will have to post them soon for you all.  The next thing that has been in the works are....

MAKEUP BAGS

I'm excited to get those started because when I go out I just cant seem to find just what I want in a bag. All of mine will be different. All sizes will be available and you can also request a custom style and get that makeup bag that you have always wanted.

Here is some of the fabric I picked up the other day to get started. (The leopard is special for me lol)
Here are all of the fabrics lined up together. (Excuse the pink glow that's happening in this one.)

I'm thinking one bag with a hot pink zipper, one with a light pink zipper, and both with a pink lining. I was also thinking maybe a mini black and white hounds-tooth lining in a small coin purse size!

This one is so cute! One will have a red zipper with black lining and the other will have a black zipper and red lining. I want to play on the colors that aren't as prominent as the others.

I saw this and I could not leave it in the store. I'm thinking a yellow zipper and yellow lining...or maybe a grey lining.

Now this one here is for me. I'm doing one with a hot pink zipper and lime green lining. Then I'm doing the opposite for the smaller bag that I will take with me in my purse.

I can't wait to get started on these today when I get off from work (at 7am). I will be sure to post the finihsed products up here for you all to see.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good rest of your weekend!

More Earrings

Hey Lovelies!

I have been working on some more earrings. I also have started a new size for the younger crowd in case the original small size is a little too big by their parents standards.

This is a collage of the most recent ones I have made.

All small (3/4") size. Clockwise: Triangles, abstract print, triangles with cream background, red and white polka-dot, blue swipes, paisley print, turquoise flower, and orange plaid.

This is a black and white striped pair that has been really popular with my followers on Instagram.
The new size that I have been working on is 5/8" (0.625 inches) I have done 3 pair in that size so far and of course I have listed them below.

This is the new size 5/8" (6.25 inches) Clockwise: White and black, red polkadot pinup, and abstract purple navy and pink.

If you are interested in owning a pair or two then just leave me a comment here or request my email if that works better for you.

Oh yeah!

And by the way my Etsy page will be up and running within the next week or two, and everything will be listed there for purchase! I'm excited to get that started and I hope to see you all there as well!
